Code Of Ethics, page 3
- To not sweep people off their feet
- To not make promises I do not keep
- To not encourage people to get "hooked" on or "addicted" to me or anything else. (Even warmth, sparkle, spiritual companionship, etc.)
- To foster true development which encourages free inner bearing
- To not exploit: to refrain from the temptation to utilize people's youthful (or otherwise) enthusiasms to enlist support for my own efforts
- To refrain from subtle or gross coercion. The individual is free to pull away at any moment with my Blessing
- To refrain from untruly generalizing from one's own experience. Nevertheless it seems to me, thus far, that there are occasions where generalized judgments are justified, with the proviso that there can always be individual exceptions. If one does not admit this possibility, in all probability these cases will not be seen. We find what we are looking for.
- To resist "Homogenizing" individuals to fit the mold of any group-held ideals or states
- To resist the gesture of coming between a person and his/her beliefs, if a consideration or change of them is not timely. To do so is a disrespectful gesture in relation to another's freedom.
And further my intentions are to:
- Acknowledge that there are many ways to learn (*Kraus) (intuitively; auditorily; visually; by doing; by experiencing). A reasonable attempt will be made to accommodate the various learning styles of different individuals.
- acknowledge that illness, blockage and terrorism can all arise from the disavowal or refusal to listen to or hear a legitimate grievance. Negativity often arises out of our being when something is not right that we have yet to bring to consciousness
- Unensouled resistance or just "acting" it out willy-nilly certainly can dissipate our energies. Through the pressure of the resistance, however, one can see our eternal being operating. Life itself is constantly showing us where inner work is required
- promote an atmosphere of colleagueship rather than "sibling or other forms of rivalry" and wasteful forms of competition
- To allow for conscious questioning-"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. Do not believe in any thing because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything on the authority of your teachers and elders. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason; conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it." The Buddha.
- To be conscious of group needs versus individual needs and not exploit one for the other. When reconciliation fails ,to as fully as possible flesh out and grasp all points of view
- To make the spiritual within myself as independent of the economic sphere as possible. To not compromise my love for what is true, beautiful and good for unseen through or unacknowledged economic factors
- To respect the dignity of each individual and not practice ego-annihilation nor encourage others, or myself, to "give themselves away" in all of its myriad forms
- To encourage the development of individual conscience as well as group conscience
- To practice love for the truth
- To face my faults with interest and sobriety knowing they are a tool to ensure further, clearer perception (Knowledge of Higher Worlds, Steiner)
- To be a resource person and ultimately a friend; not a dictator, tyrant or Guru
- To not be "possessed" by the archetype of teacher but rather to be authentically 'human'
- To encourage questioning and not obedience to authority, belief, etc.
- To encourage self-trust and a sense of self-worth in others, however possible
- To make an effort to become aware of the effect I have on others
- To value questioning from others
- To share one's impressions without expecting agreement or obedience
- To encourage that individualizing effect which comes from others coming to their own judgments
